- Voter Registration
To vote in Maryland, you must register to vote (Code Election Law Article, secs. 3-101 through 3-603). Your local board of elections can advise you on how and where to do that. Online Voter Registration also is available.

In the voter's county of residence, a registered voter may vote:
-
1) on election day at an assigned polling place
2) prior to election day at an early voting center
3) by absentee ballot
4) or by mail-in ballot

STATEWIDE & COUNTY ELECTIONS
- Primary Elections
Next primary election: June 28, 2022.In Presidential Election years: normally held on 4th Tuesday in April (2024, 2028) (Chapter 332, Acts of 2015; Code Election Law Article, sec. 8-201).
In Gubernatorial Election years: held on last Tuesday in June (2022, 2026) (Chapter 169, Acts of 2011; Code Election Law Article, sec. 8-201).
- General Elections
Next general election: November 3, 2020.
In even-numbered years: held on the Tuesday after 1st Monday in November (2020, 2022)
(Chapter 99, Acts of 1956, ratified Nov. 6, 1956: Const., Art. XV, sec. 7; Code Election Law Article, sec. 8-301).
MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
- Primary Elections
Next municipal primary election: June 28, 2022 (for circuit court clerk, orphans' court judges, register of wills, sheriff, & state's attorney)Next municipal primary election: April 26, 2024 (for mayor, city council, & comptroller)
