CHARTER REVIEW COMMISSION

Under Police Department and Community Resources Bureau, Section was reorganized in June 2015 as Youth and Community Services Section under Operations Bureau.

COUNCILMANIC REDISTRICTING COMMISSION
The Baltimore County Charter requires that the County Council revise the County's seven councilmanic districts after each decennial census of the United States. The Charter also requires the County Council to initiate the redistricting process by establishing a commission to hold public hearings and recommend to the County Council legislation for revising the councilmanic districts in accordance with requirements of the County Charter(County Charter, Article II, sec. 207).

Authorized by County Council Resolution no. 26-11, the last Councilmanic Redistricting Commission was initiated in March 2011. It consisted on five members who were appointed by the County Council. The Commission reported its recommendations to the County Council in July 2011.

Thereafter, the County Council revised and reconstituted the councilmanic districts in accordance with the 2010 census by Bill no. 59-11, sec. 1, adopted in October 2011. The new concilmanic districts become effective with the election of Council members in 2014.
