AD HOC COMMITTEE ON COURT LIBRARY REQUIREMENTS
Ad Hoc Committee on Court Library Requirements was formed by Chief Judge of District Court of Maryland in 1994. Committee developed a core list of law books, periodicals, and other research materials required for District Court libraries and judges' chambers and for use on bench. It also determined which titles could be discontinued because of infrequent use.
Committee concluded its work in Dec. 1995.
In Jan. 2015, replaced by District Court Chief Judges Committee of Judicial Council.
ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION COMMITTEE
Chief Judge of District Court of Maryland organized Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee in Sept. 2003. Committee studied and further developed alternative dispute resolution in District Court of Maryland.
Appointed by Chief Judge of District Court of Maryland, members served two-year terms.
COMMITTEE ON CIVIL PROCEDURES
Committee on Civil Procedures was formed in 1973 as Committee on Civil Matters by Chief Judge of District Court of Maryland. Committee reviewed new legislation affecting District Court civil cases and appellate court decisions bearing on trying of civil causes in District Court. Revisions to District Court forms, practices, and procedures also were recommended by Committee. Upon request of Chief Judge or Administrative Judges of Court, Committee studied certain topics in civil law.
Abolished in Jan. 2015 following restructuring of committees under Judicial Council.
COMMISSIONER EDUCATION COMMITTEE
In 1971, Commissioner Education Committee was initiated by Chief Judge of District Court of Maryland. Annually, Committee revised District Court Commissioners' Manual. It recommended changes to forms and procedures used by Commissioners. Each year, Committee prepared an educational seminar for all District Court Commissioners.
Committee members were appointed for indefinite terms by Chief Judge of District Court of Maryland.
Replaced in Jan. 2015 by Commissioner Education Subcommittee of Judicial Council.
COMMITTEE ON CRIMINAL & MOTOR VEHICLE MATTERS
Committee on Criminal and Motor Vehicle Matters was created by Chief Judge of District Court of Maryland in 1973 as two separate committees: Committee on Criminal Matters, and Committee on Motor Vehicle Matters. They merged in 1981 to form Committee on Criminal and Motor Vehicle Matters.
In Jan. 2015, replaced by Criminal and Traffic Work Group of Judicial Council.

Functions transferred to Administrative Office of Courts, July 2, 2001.
JUDICIAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Judicial Education Committee was established by Chief Judge of District Court of Maryland in 1973. Committee prepared and presented an annual education conference for all District Court Judges. Topics and speakers were selected by Committee, whose members frequently made presentations.
Chief Judge of District Court of Maryland appointed Committee members to two-year terms.
Abolished in Jan. 2015; functions assumed by Education Committee of Judicial Council.
