Effective May 2, 2012, the Task Force to Study Maryland Insurance of Last-Resort Programs was established (Chapter 408, Acts of 2012).
The Task Force studied the potential benefits and possible combinations, if one or more of the State-created insurers of last resort were affiliated. These may include the Injured Workers Insurance Fund, Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund, Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Corporation, Maryland Health Insurance Plan, and Joint Insurance Association.
On December 1, 2013, the Task Force submitted its final report to the Senate Finance Committee and the House Economic Matters Committee.
Authorization for the Task Force ended May 31, 2014.
