In June 2011, the Task Force on Funding a Green Technology, Life Science, and Health Information Technology Loan-Assistance Repayment Program was authorized (Chapter 360, Acts of 2011).

The Task Force studied and made recommendations on how to fund a loan-assistance repayment program for federal and State higher education loans which specifically would benefit graduates who earn a degree in fields relating to green technology, life science, and health information technology.

Authorization for the Task Force was extended through January 31, 2012.

In June 2012, the Task Force submitted its report to the Senate Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee.
