On June 18, 2011, Cycle Maryland had its kick-off event at Cross Island Trail, a linear park that spans Kent Island in Queen Anne's County. Cycle Maryland's website lists events and resources for cyclists statewide.

In Dorchester County, the annual Six Pillars Century Blackwater Tour through the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge was scheduled to take place on May 2, 2020, but has been postponed due to the coronavirus.
Interest in cycling is maintained by local groups, such as the Baltimore Bicycling Club. The Department of Natural Resources promotes the Maryland Trails Program. Also, some local governments have developed master plans to incorporate bicyles as a regular mode of travel within their jurisdictions.
